There are many symptoms of depression.

Do any of these ring a bell?

Dreading going to work or school, or even missing it altogether

Struggling to take care of yourself or your home

Not enjoying activities or hobbies that you used to love

Withdrawing from your loved ones and spending most of your time alone

Depression is more than a phase.

Depression can make your life feel like a perpetual fog, where even the simplest tasks seem insurmountable. Relationships can feel strained, work can seem overwhelming, and you may find yourself withdrawing from the world. Some people mistakenly believe that you can just choose to stop being depressed by acting "normally", but depression is not a choice, and it often doesn't just go away on its own.

You can learn the skills to overcome your depression.

In therapy, we'll tackle your depression by challenging the negative thoughts and beliefs that often feed into it. By examining these thought patterns, we can start to shift them, making room for more balanced and positive perspectives. Alongside our work on your thoughts, we'll also focus on your behaviours by using a technique called behavioural activation. This involves setting small, achievable goals tailored to your interests and values. As you start to meet these goals, you'll not only experience a sense of accomplishment and pride, but you'll also break the cycle of avoidance and isolation that often accompanies depression.

How We Will Work on Your Depression:

Analyzing Thoughts and Behaviours

Thoughts and actions have a profound impact on our feelings. We'll identify the unhelpful thoughts and behavioural patterns that have been contributing to your depression so you can learn how to challenge and change them.

Establishing a Routine

Developing a consistent daily schedule can provide structure and stability, helping to alleviate symptoms of depression. We'll work together to create a routine that will help you regain control and feel moments of joy.

Finding Self-Confidence

You probably feel unable to complete productive tasks, so we will look for small, but achievable, activities that will make you feel good about yourself. When you start to complete them one at a time, you’ll realize that you have more control over your behaviours than you think.
