Lia Reed, M.A., R.P.

REGISTERED PSYCHOTHERAPIST

I know what it's like to feel like your emotions are dialled up to 11. When anxiety, frustration, and fear are constant companions, your life can feel like a roller coaster. Talk about exhausting! The good news is that life doesn't need to be this hard.

I want to help you learn how to notice and express your emotions without feeling like they are taking over. I want you to have more moments of deep connection with those you love without worrying that they might one day leave you. I'll help you learn how to use specific skills in your day-to-day life so you can find a new sense of security and stability.

What It's Like to Work With Lia

As a therapist, I am a firm believer in authenticity in the therapeutic relationship. While I love to listen and validate my clients' feelings, I also might occasionally question a thought when necessary. The honest and frank conversations I get to have with my clients are what allow them to challenge their thoughts and assumptions - this is where the real work happens!

I understand that seeking therapy can be an overwhelming experience, and I want to emphasize that at its core, therapy is a conversation. When meeting with me, you’ll find that sessions will be a friendly and relaxed discussion during which you can feel safe to explore whatever concerns are on your mind while also learning new skills.

Why Do I Love Being a Therapist?

Good question! If you knew me in high school, you might be surprised to learn that I became a psychotherapist - I have always been a talker! What I have learned since then is that you can contribute just as much to a relationship by listening and observing.

I love having the opportunity to be a non-judgmental witness to all of my clients' lives. Regardless of whether you feel like you already have a solid support system, it can be helpful to have someone moving through life’s journey with you.

I want to be the person who is there to help you feel safe working through any questions and thoughts that may arise - even the scary and nerve-wracking ones.

Outside of Work

When I'm not working, you'll likely find me in my backyard, trying to keep my garden alive, or playing hide-and-seek with my cat, who thinks he's a ninja. In the evenings, you might catch me on the ballroom dance floor with my husband, where my moves are either smooth like butter or reminiscent of a newborn giraffe learning to walk – it depends on who you ask!
